UVM Wakeboard Club Hosts Liquid Force “The Truth” Movie Premier

Liquis Force: The Truth DVDOn November 13, the University of Vermont Wakeboard Club held a showing of the video, The Truth at Brennan’s, a local pub and bistro located at UVM in the Davis Center. The Truth showcases the remarkably talented Liquid Force Wakeboarding Team as they display their extraordinary abilities out on the water. Liquid Force is a company dedicated to bringing wakeboarding, wakeskating, and wakesurfing into the spotlight in the world of professional sports.

There was a great showing for this premier, as many students came out to support their peers in the club. Burlington Boatyard, a local online company devoted to connecting the Vermont marine community, made an appearance and showed their support for the cause. Guy Mitrano, CEO of Burlington Boatyard and UVM alumnus (’06), spoke with students and voiced ways in which they could assist and become a member of the up-and-coming UVM Wakeboard Club. He also manned the sponsor table, giving away free, floating key chains and displaying the BBY-UVM Wakeboard Club video produced this fall. This was one of BBY’s first actions taken in being the group’s initial major sponsor, and was produced this fall.

The Truth Premier: Jordan & TomThe University Program Board graciously donated free food for the students to enjoy while watching the video premier. Cases of Red Bull were also provided for the evening, attracting many-a-student to check out the raffle and sign up for the club’s list serve. Tickets were sold for $2 a piece and gave one lucky individual a chance at winning a brand new IPod Nano. The proceeds from the raffle went toward supporting the club.

Overall, the event was a great success. A substantial amount of tickets were sold for the raffle and a considerable number of email addresses were collected between the UVM Wakeboard club and Burlington Boatyard tables. More importantly though, everyone enjoyed having the chance to learn a bit more about the club while seeing some amazing wakeboard footage. We look forward to keeping in touch with all those who showed an interest in joining and hope to see everyone at our next event!

The club will have another outing similar to this in the near future, as we hope to draw new faces to the group and make further steps toward becoming a recognized club with the university. If you would like more information about the UVM Wakeboard club, feel free to contact our president, Nicole Ullian at nullian@uvm.edu

Many thanks go out to all the individuals who made this night possible. These include the UVM Program Board who helped set up for the event and donated food, the Brennan’s staff for providing the location and accommodations and Red Bull for the free supply. Finally, a special thanks goes out to the guys at Burlington Boatyard who have helped the UVM Wakeboard club immeasurably. This event would not have been possible without all of the above showing their support.
